Sweet root vegetables (6-8 portions)

Peal and chop one sweet potato, one small swede and one large parsnip. Boil or steam until soft and then drain keeping the cooking water aside. Puree with a blender or mash and then push through a fine sieve. Add a little of the cooking water if needed to make a runnier consistency.

Cream of cauliflower (6-8 portions)

Cut approximately 100g (4oz) cauliflower into small florets and either boil or steam until soft. Drain and puree until smooth. Whilst this is cooling mix one tablespoon of unflavoured baby rice with two tablespoons of your baby’s usual milk. When the cauliflower is cool mix the two together. If the mixture is too thick add a little more milk.

Apple and pear fool (6-8 portions)

Peal and chop one apple and one pear. Boil or steam until soft and then leave to cool. Mix one tablespoon of baby rice with two tablespoons of your baby’s usual milk. Once everything is cool mix everything together adding a little more milk if needed.

Banana and apple (2 portions)

Mash ½ a small banana and mix with one teaspoons of your baby’s usual milk. Combine with one portion of apple puree and aim to serve immediately as banana does not keep well.

Broccoli and pear (6-8 portions)

Cut 100g (4oz) broccoli into small florets as well and peal and chop one large pear. Steam or boil until soft and then puree together to a smooth consistency. If required add a little of the cooking liquid to form are runnier puree.
