How do I know if my child is ready? 1. Watch for signs that your child is aware they need to go 2. Your child has stayed dry for a couple of hours 3. Your child lets you know that their nappy is soiled Do's: Introduce the potty to your child as their own personal possession. We all know children can be quite possessive about their own toys! Encourage them to use carry their Potty Be patient with children as potty training is a big milestone in both a parent's and child's life and will take time. Praise your child when they use the potty and make them feel special, perhaps with a reward. Sit your child at regular intervals on the Potty and continue to remind them it’s theirs and why. Teach your child to always wash their hands after use. Ensure you clean the Potty with a sterilising spray after each use. Don'ts: Don't force a child to use a potty Don't get cross with them for refusing to sit on a potty Don't get impatient with them if they have an accident |
