The pop-in V2 bamboo nappy is a modern eco-friendly alternative to the disposable nappy. Revolutionary in design it uses a multisized popper system and stretchy tabs to grow with your baby, providing a snug and reliable fit at all stages of development.

Description

The Pop-In is a next-generation all-in-one nappy, in that the inner soaker attaches to the outer shell by means of poppers so you can take it apart (when you want to wash it) and put it back together (when you’ve washed and dried it before putting it on the baby).

All in all a great design for a leakproof, easy to use and absorbent nappy. As it is made from bamboo material, the pop in nappy is a slimline nappy that fits from 7lbs to approx 35lbs. The innovative popper system allows quick and easy changing everytime.

The 4 x 2 popper system makes this a true birth to potty nappy With unique stretchy tabs you can adjust the waistline for a perfect snug . The soft elasticated waistband will gently expand and contract to wrap comfortably around your baby. With a double elasticated gusset the nappy is a close fit around the legs to protect against leaks, even for heavy wetters.

For added comfort the outer shell has a hidden waterproof layer so the fabric against your baby's skin is soft and gentle fabric. Each nappy comes with two boosters so you can adjust for the required degree of absorbency

Do I need to soak my nappies?

No, absolutely not! It’s far better, environmentally, not to soak nappies, as it wastes too much water. Modern washing machines wash so well that soaking is just not needed. When you take the nappy off the baby, simply flush away the disposable liner containing any solids, and pop the nappy in a tote bag until you’re ready to wash. This method is far less hassle than soaking the nappies but be warned it does leave your nappies prone to stains, so if this is something that really bothers you you should consider soaking (see more about dealing with stains below). You’ll need a nappy pail, fill it with cold water and half a dozen drops of tee tree oil to prevent bacteria and smells developing and pop the nappies in until you’re ready to wash. A possible compromise is to soak the nappies in the washing machine before it goes through the normal washing cycle; load the machine at night, begin the cycle but turn the machine off as soon as there is enough water in it so that the nappies are left to soak overnight before switching the machine back on the next day to complete the cycle.

How do I wash my nappies?

First you need to un-popper your nappies so that they wash really thoroughly. You don’t need to undo every popper though, you’ll find that if you undo just the 2 poppers underneath the front pocket of the nappy, the whole nappy (including the insert) opens out into a chain. This means every surface of the nappy is opened out to wash thoroughly. As we don’t recommend soaking nappies, we advise you to put them through a 60 degree wash. You don’t need a higher temperature, 60 degrees is sufficient to completely sanitise the nappies. You can use your usual detergent – non-bio is best and you often don’t need to use as much as the manufacturer recommends – and don’t use fabric conditioner as it impedes the absorbency of the nappy. If you want to soften your nappies try adding a tablespoon of white vinegar to the final rinse in where the fabric conditioner would go. If your nappies begin to smell of ammonia even when washed your machine may not be rinsing well enough or you may have detergent build up. Modern washing machines use so little water that sometimes this can cause a problem. You may need to run an extra rinse cycle at the end of your wash once in a while. If you still have a problem try putting all the nappies through a hot wash without detergent and adding a tablespoon of washing soda/soda crystals to the pre-wash drawer as it helps break down residues in the fabric. This is also good for keeping the nappies soft.

How can I treat stains?

The ultimate environmentally-friendly stain remover is sunshine!

How do I dry my nappies and how long does it take?

The best way to dry your nappies is to put them over a line outside in the sunshine. On a fine day it’s the quickest way to dry them, plus the sun has a bleaching effect so the appearance of any stains will be reduced after a day in the sunshine. On a nice sunny day they’ll dry within the day. If you need to dry them indoors, then over a line near a radiator is the quickest method, they should dry within 24 hours if you can manage to turn them over at some point during the day. If you’ve undone just the front poppers you’ll find that you can place a whole nappy (outer shell, soaker and insert still poppered together) over the line in one piece, although if you do separate all the elements they will dry just that little bit faster. If they’re left poppered together over a line indoors and not near a heated radiator it can take up to 48 hours to dry the nappies. If space is an issue during the winter we’d suggest washing your nappies every day so that you can keep drying a few at a time, taking up less room on a line. The inner soakers can be tumble-dried if necessary, but it does mean you have to take the whole nappy apart as the outer shell can’t be tumble dried (and dries very quickly by itself anyway). By the way never iron your nappies, they don’t need it and it uses up far too much energy!!!

Will my baby be more prone to nappy rash?

No. In a study on infants with nappy rash, 'the type of nappy worn did not emerge as a significant factor. Therefore, and contrary to widespread belief, disposable nappies seem to have little protective effect. The most important factor in avoiding nappy rash is keeping your baby clean with regular nappy changes. Bouts of nappy rash can sometimes be caused by illness or teething, due to the pH of the stomach contents becoming more acidic,

Instructions for daytime use

1. Take the complete pop-in nappy (set to the right popper setting), open it out and lay flat on the change mat.

2. You may take out the booster pad, if you feel it is not required. Other wise keep it flat for a girl or fold it up for a boy.

3. Place a disposable liner (unfolded) on top of the nappy tucking it under the pockets and around the sides of the soaker.

4. Lay your baby on top of the assembled nappy, pull up the front between their legs and fasten the nappy around the baby, pulling the tabs to size for a snug secure fit.

When your baby needs changing simply undo the tabs on the outer shell, remove the liner and any solids and flush down the toilet (liners may be thrown in the bin if just wet). Then simply take a clean pop-in and repeats steps 1 - 4.

* Remember to check that everything is tucked inside the outer shell at the legs and back to avoid leaks.

Instructions for newborn babies

You can vary the absorbency of the pop-in according to age and wetting needs. For a newborn baby you may take out the booster pad to make the nappy more slimline. To recude the rise at the front of the nappy slightly turn the front pocket over and inside out, so the flap lays on the top of the aplix band.

Fasten the nappy in the normal way with the stretchy tabs attaching directly to the brushed pocket or overlapping each other.

* For little boys please keep the pocket turned over whilst they remain on the smallest popper setting for the nappy.

Instructions for nighttime use.

The pop-in has been designed with a fitted pad to provide extra absorbency needed to help keepy baby dry overnight, as wetting becomes heavier. The dri-night booster comes included in the multipacks or can be bought separately and wraps neatly around the nappy booster simply tucking under the front and back pocket.

* Handy tip to save time: pop your hand through the centre of the folded dri-night pad, pick up the loose end of the booster and slide the dri-night into place around your booster.

When your baby is very small you won't need the dri-night, during this time this handy fitted pad doubles as a pre-fold nappy (an alternative to the soaker); folded in the same way, lay the pad into an empty outer shell, tuck under the front pocket and snap into the middle back popper of the outer for added security.

Instructions for storing nappies

We recommend that you dont soak your nappy outer shells as this may adversely afffect the lifespan of the waterproof coating. Instead store your wet and rinsed soiled nappies in a dry pail or tote bag. You can soak the soakers and boosters if you wish but do not add bicarbonate of soda or any bleaching agents to the water.

Larger totes will hold your nappies between washes at home whilst smaller ones are handy to transport your dirty nappies on the move.

The pop-in's unique ultra-sonic technology means no leaks! You can even add 2-3 drops of tea tree oil to keep them fresh.

Instructions for washing

When washing the nappies, turn tote bags inside out and add it to the wash. We recommend that you run soiled nappies through the cold rinse first if they have not been soaked. Separate the shell from the soakers by undoing the 2 poppers located under the front pocket thereby allowing the whole nappy to unfold.

* Top tip: this saves time rather then undoing all the poppers! Fasten the Velcro tab located on the back pocket of the outer before washing.

Follow the washing instructions on the nappy label, you should be able to get between 15-20 nappies per load. Your nappies may be air dried - this is preferable as it will extend the life of the coating and is better for the environment. If you wish to finish the soakers in the tumble dryer on a low heat, first separate them from the outer shell.

We recommend that you do not tumble dry the outer shell or place it against direct heat (over a radiator, for example) as this may adversely affect the coating and the outer shell will dry very quickly anyway.

Lastly do not use fabric softeners or chlorine bleaching agents on your nappies.

* Please remember a nappy can take between 4-6 washes to become fully absorbent, bamboo soakers may take even longer.
