Caring for your Merino Go Go bag.

The merino fibre is100% natural and needs tender loving care, just like baby. Merino is unique, not only do the merino fibres breathe, but they naturally  resist the build up of odour.  However, like any other fabric, it is easy to care for once you know how, so please read the following instructions carefully, so as to not tarnish the fabric's natural silky, temperature regulating properties.

The following instructions are sewn into your Go Go Bag or Cocooi Wrap, for reading before you wash.

machine wash
For the Go Go Bag, adjust the zip closed first
Use a gentle wool cycle at 40ºC max

Use only wool approved washing liquid
DO NOT SOAK and DO NOT BLEACH

hand wash
Use lukewarm water to gently massage the fabric
Rinse thoroughly
Remove excess water by rolling in a towel. Do not wring.

after wash
Flat dry, away from direct sunlight
Tumble dry on low heat only
Iron only on cotton surface on wool setting

To avoid stretching, do not hang merino on a line

Features

Go Go Bag™

Why use a sleeping bag?
Using the Go Go Bag™ will prevent your baby from waking due to a drop in temperature after wriggling out of their blankets and getting tangled in their sheets.

Why use merino vs synthetic?

Merino generates heat using any moisture to regulate temperature. If your baby’s skin is moist, merino removes it, releasing it into the atmosphere, thereby keeping your baby warm and dry. Synthetic, on the other hand, may appear to be warm, however garments that contain synthetic don’t breathe, making it more likely for your baby to perspire. This creates a moist environment, which leads to a chill zone next to your baby’s skin. Bacteria are more likely to survive in these conditions.

Why use a Go Go Bag?

The Go Go Bag™ is a sleeping bag designed specifically for babies and toddlers and uses only 100% natural fibres – superfine merino wool & 100% cotton. It can be taken anywhere, allowing your child to be easily transferred from a car seat or buggy into their cot or bed. It is safe for your child and amazingly practical. A popular alternative to sheets & blankets, the Go Go Bag™ has passed vigorous fire safety tests and are all labeled LOW FIRE RISK.

The Go Go Bag™ has many benefits including;
• Prevents your baby from waking after wriggling out of their blankets.
• Keeps your baby at a safe and comfortable temperature throughout the night.
• Merino regulates temperature by removing heat and moisture away from the body and in cool conditions (between four and six in the morning) it insulates.
• Babies associate the bag with sleep so will settle more easily in unfamiliar surroundings.
• Safely used by children with allergies, eczema and sensitive skin.

Should I buy standard weight or duvet weight?
Standard weight is designed for temperatures that are between 18 and 30˙C
Duvet weight is designed for temperatures that are below 18˙C

Do I need more than one Go Go Bag?
We strongly recommend the rotation of two sleeping bags – over a six-month period most children sleep on average 3,000 hours and rotating two bags enables you to get the most out of your Go Go Bag™ . Your Go Go Bag™ is made from all natural fibres and contains no polyesters so please follow washing instructions carefully.

When should I start putting my baby in a Go Go Bag?
Your baby can go into a Go Go Bag™ from newborn up until 4 years of age. For the first three months, you may wish to use the dome adjustment system under the arms. When using a Go Go Bag™ we advise a minimum weight of 3.2kgs/7lbs.

What ages does a Go Go Bag fit?
It comes in two sizes - baby (0 - 2 years) and toddler (2 - 4+ years).

How do I put on my Go Go Bag?
Simply unzip the bag, undo the shoulder domes, and lay baby on top of bag. Insert arm through armhole, and dome up the second shoulder. Zip bag up, and ensure that baby is sitting comfortably inside the bag before laying baby to sleep.

How do I dress my child when they are in their Go Go Bag?

Please refer to the chart below as a guide for your baby's comfort when using Merino Kids™ garments.

What other bedding do I use with my Go Go Bag?
Use only a flat or fitted bottom sheet on the bassinet/cot/bed and place your baby in the Go Go Bag™. This will prevent them waking up, getting out or tangled up in bedding. It is not necessary to use blankets, top sheets or duvets when using the Go Go Bag™.

Go Go Bags don’t have sleeves – won’t my child get cold?
This is to ensure air circulation, Babies sleeping under traditional blankets rarely sleep with their arms inside the covers. We recommend layering garments to ensure your child is perfectly adapted to their environment. The best way to measure your babies temperature is to check behind their neck. So long as the core temperature is okay, arms and hands can be cooler due to poor circulation in the first 12 months.

I want to put my infant into a toddler (2-4 year) bag – how big should they be for this?
We base our sizing on the 50th percentile of babies according to New Zealand Plunket guidelines. If your baby is getting too big for the baby Go Go Bag™, they may need to start sleeping in the toddler bag. The neckline and armholes are bigger in the toddler bag, so this will need to be taken into consideration when deciding which bag to use.

How do I care for my Go Go Bag™?
Go Go Bags are extremely easy to care for. Due to the fact that Go Go Bags are 100% natural, it is very important that you follow the washing instructions found inside the garment carefully.

What is a TOG rating?
The British "TOG" value is the international standard measurement of all blankets' thermal effectiveness (how well it keeps you warm).  The TOG rating describes the warmth or 'Thermal Resistance' of a fabric, and is widely used in the UK to describe warmth levels of duvets and sleeping bags.

Why don’t Go Go Bags have a TOG rating?
Because Go Go Bags are made from 100% natural fibres, and regulate your baby’s temperature, they do not require a Tog Rating.

Safe Sleeping

What is the best room temperature for my child’s bedroom?
Between 18 and 30˙C. If lower, we recommend using the Duvet weight Go Go Bag™, and layering under the bag with merino garments. See our temperature guide for more details.

Merino

Why do you call Merino the 'wonderfibre'?
Merino is widely known as the wonder fibre, due to its natural abilities to regulate body temperature. It is also a miracle fibre for premature and low birth weight babies. Studies of infants at Cambridge Maternity Hospital, UK, found that those sleeping in merino settled more quickly, cried less, fed better, and gained weight faster. Merino also naturally prevents the build up of odour, so can be washed less often, and is the perfect fibre for babies with skin allergies and eczema as it won’t irritate even the most sensitive of skin.

My child has sensitive skin/allergies – would merino irritate this?

Merino is unlike traditional wool, in that each fibre has a silky outer on every strand, creating an extremely soft, fine texture. It naturally regulates body temperature and absorbs and releases moisture, eliminating dampness which can breed germs and allergens.

How do I care for my merino products?
Always follow the care instructions on the packaging. Merino garments should be washed using wool approved liquid only. They can be washed in a machine on the delicate cycle using luke warm water – below 40˙C. Merino garments should never be soaked, bleached, washed in hot water, soaps, or spot cleaned. Dry your garments flat in the shade away from direct sunlight. You may tumble dry on a low heat, and iron with a cool setting. .

Isn’t Merino too hot for warm temperatures?
Merino naturally regulates body temperature. It breathes, and removes any moisture away from your baby’s skin, releasing it into the atmosphere. Synthetic fibres do not have this ability, and trap moisture next to baby’s skin, creating a chill zone.
